  • 1 star reviewThe chef/owner of this restaurant claims that in over 40 years in business he has never had a customer complain about his food. Hard to believe, but if you choose to dine at San Giorgio's and you are not happy with the food, don't dare question the waiter if you feel the food you ordered lacks in quanity or quality. I have been to this local restaurant at least half a dozen times over the years and have never had a reason to complain or write a review. The service was always slow but not worth complaining about because it's not a fast food restaurant. I have never timed how long it took to get drinks or bread. This is a restaurant you go to relax and enjoy a fine dining experience. Our appetizers and entrees were fine until I noticed that there was very little or no veal in the veal parmigiana dinner I ordered. At first we laughed about how easy it was to push a fork through the veal as if it were a pancake. The cheese, sauce, and breading actually tasted good. But, I was starting to wonder if the kitchen forgot to put the veal in my veal parmigiana. After further investigation, I realized the veal was as thick as a sheet of paper. I cut a small piece of the entree and carefully removed the thick breading leaving the paper thin veal on a seperate plate. I asked the waiter if the chef made a mistake preparing this entree. He brought the sheet of veal to the kitchen and immediately returned with a raw, much thicker, slice of veal. He explained that the chef told him that he flattens the veal with a mallet and that's why it is thin. I told him that that was not an acceptable explanation as to why the veal in my parmigiana dinner was paper thin. I told him the chef should learn how to make a proper veal parmigiana dinner. No sooner the chef comes roaring out of the kitchen yelling that he has never had a complaint regarding his cooking in over 40 years. I told him the veal was to thin and his answer was that I was crazy and that most restaurant's substitute their veal with pork. He and his staff were also bragging about all the awards he has won over the years. Our waiter soon told us that the chef was also the owner. We watched this chef/owner go to over to other tables and loudly complain to the occupants about us. He continued to boast about his rewards and how no one has ever complained about his cooking in over 40 years. A few of the diners actually started giving us a hard time for complaining to this man about his food. When my adult daughter told the chef/owner that he was unprofessional and thin skinned, he told us to get out and never come back. Before we could get up, the waiter presented us with a check that included the parmigiana with the paper thin slice of veal. We paid the bill and left. I wish I could leave zero stars for this insane dining experience. My only warning is if you choose to dine at San Giorgio's, don't complain about the food no matter how bad you may find it!
