I bought a car from a dealership on Saturday September 22nd. I took this car to Maaco in Hamden, CT on Tuesday September 25th, to have a specific design painted on it. When I went to pick up the car that same day, there were numerous paint smudges throughout the car, that weren't supposed to be there. I informed the manager "Tim" that I couldn't take the car in those conditions. He told me to come back in an hour and that they would take care of the problem. Upon my return, it was already getting dark outside, and I didn't see how bad the car was. The next morning, Wednesday September 26th, during daylight it was obvious the amount of smudges, and paint all over the car, including the driver's side seat, mirrors, windows, inside the side panels, and even on the car keys. Besides the damage done by the paint, they had tried to buff some of the other paint off, and ended up ruining the original paint on the car. I was furious to see how this company had destroyed my new car. I called the store and talked to "Tim", who didn't believe me, and asked me to take the car there so that he could see for himself. When I got there, I met with "Tim" and after his inspection, he said he "could try to take care of it on Monday", at that point I informed him that I didn't want anything to do with this company, and that I wanted a full refund so that I could use that money to pay for all the damages that they had done. "Tim" being only the manager could not authorize the refund, and called the owner, Tony Dandonoli. Tony, walked around the car, completely ignored me, and then told "Tim" that they "could try to take care of it on Monday". At that point I introduced myself to Tony, and demanded a full refund. He smiled and told me that that "was not an option" and that my only option was to leave it there again. I couldn't conceive how someone could care so little about someone else property. Knowing well what they had done the first time I left it there, I refused to leave it again. Tony smiled, reiterated that that was my only option and walked away.
I paid a total of $430.00 for this "job", so far the re-upholstery for the driver's side chair is going to cost $180,00, I still don't know how much the the paint removal and body work to the areas that they buffed is going to cost, but I'm sure is going to be more than what I paid for them to destroy my new car.
