• I took my boat to Josh at Fair Grove marine repair to have him figure out why it was getting hot and running rough. He had it for 3 weeks and called and said he had it fixed. He said that there are 2 washers on the water pump, one goes on top, the other on bottom. He said that they where both on top. He said it was running rough because the carburator was full of junk from a paper fuel filter that was on it. He replaced the fuel line also. I paid him $340.00 and picked it up. The next day I took it to the Lake. It idled at 1500 rpm, about 700 rpm to high. When I shifted it from forward back to neutral, it was not in neutral. I had to shift it part way into reverse before it was in neutral. It would only run out at about 4400 rpm instead of the 52500 rpm that it should run out at. I called him the next Monday to tell him about the problems it still had. He apologized and told me to bring it back. I called him twice during that week, and finally on Friday he said to come and get it that night. It would be done and there was no charge. I picked it up and took it to the lake the next day. Everything was still the same, neutral not neutral, still idling high, not running out at high rpm. I called him agian on Monday morning and he said he was real busy and would call me so I could bring it back. I waited 2 weeks and called him multiply times. I left several messages and he never called me back. Today I took it to a different repair facility. I told the guy there about all the problems I had. He asked if I had a little time and started working on it right away. In one hour he figured out that there was a gasket broken, letting water into a cylinder. To make a long story short. I would never recommend that someone take a boat motor to Fair Grove marine repair. They will take your money and give you nothing for it.
