• I turned 65 last Monday (January 23.) We decided to celebrate at AuRants on assurances that we'd be served an excellent meal. We were sorely disappointed. We would have done better if we had gone to McDonalds. Seriously! We drove a substantial distance in poor weather. We were the only patrons in the dining room. I suspect that the chef was not on the premises which may have accounted for our bad experience. I had the salmon on the proprietor's assurance that it was "outstanding." My wife ordered the fillet mignon - medium. My salmon was pale, soft and mushy rather than firm, pink and flaky. It had obviously seen better days (as had the cheesecake.) My wife was served a very overcooked piece of steak beyond well done, apparently part of a medallion, and she suspected that it had been reheated from an earlier cooking. Neither meal tasted fresh or even marginally acceptable. I had a beer. My wife drank cola. We spent over $100 which included no salad or bread. There was no excuse for such poor food.
